Does it have any limitations I should know about? Based on a video I looked up, the matrices are limited in size (I think the max it showed was a 3x3, although it's possible they just didn't scroll down to larger options) and it only stores 6 variables (not too big of a deal, although I do like to store constants I regularly use). Cheap enough I might just buy it and test it out, even if I don't like it it's only $16 lost.

I do like that it has so many features at such a cheap price, though. The calculator you linked as far as I can tell does have all the features I need, although I'm not a huge fan of the screen or design, it seems clunky to use (probably fixed by practice, of course). I've never been warned by anyone that they don't allow certain calculators, so I think I should be alright on that front. Any reasons I should go for one over the other? Or any other options I should be considering? (Preferably nothing more expensive than these two, this purchase is going to kill my bank account already)Īs far as I can tell, my school's EE department has pretty much no calculator restrictions. I've had trouble dealing with the NSpire interface anytime I've used a friend's, but I assume (and hope) that I'll eventually get over the seemingly clunky interface with practice. I've heard great things about the NSpire, and they're certainly more ubiquitous, but the Prime seems great as well. Right now I'm leaning towards the HP Prime or NSpire. My friend has a TI-89 and has similar trouble inserting complex numbers into matrices, although he says it can be done. TI-36X isn't going to work for me, it cannot handle matrices with complex numbers.

This has been asked before and I see a huge range of answers, such as the HP Prime, NSpire CX CAS, TI-89, TI-36X, etc.

So, I've been using a TI-84 Plus CE throughout high school, but now in my first EE class (Electric Circuit Analysis) I literally cannot use it to solve some of the problems (nodal and mesh analysis with complex numbers).
